Are you making this link-in-bio mistake?

Almost 6 out of every 10 people make it...

It drove me nuts.

I was hopping from one speaker’s Instagram account to the next…

And almost every single one had a Linktree link in their bio.

So let me say this as clearly as possible:

DO NOT USE LINKTREE LINKS IN YOUR BIO… ever.

You might think it’s a smart and strategic move to include multiple links in one place. I used to think so too a few years ago.

But here’s the reality: Linktree links hurt your brand and conversions more than they help.

Don’t just take my word for it… take it from Shane Hunter, one of the smartest marketers out there.

A few hours ago, he replied to my post on X about this topic and said this about people who use Linktree links:

“It shows me someone with poor online optimization and with that poor planning, strategy, and execution. Point all social media links to your email list. Once there, you’re free to share all the things one would think they need on a Linktree. Focused, rational intent.”

And I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Here’s why Linktree links are such a bad move…

On one hand, Cognitive Load Theory states that too many options overwhelm people and make it harder for them to take action. A Linktree with multiple links creates decision fatigue, and most people won’t click anything at all.

On the other hand, The Paradox of Choice theory suggests that when people are given too many options, they feel dissatisfied no matter what choice they make. Therefore, a single, focused call to action (like joining an email list) reduces friction and boosts conversions.

So… ditch your Linktree.

And if you’re nodding along and you’re ready to kick Linktree out the window and finally sell more than you ever imagined with a bio link that actually works…

I’d be thrilled to help you out!
