I Have a Confession to Make...
You ever feel that? That itch in your brain telling you you’re onto something big?
Crude? Raw? Or just sentimental?
I have a confession to make…
This is the first email I’ve written by hand—actual pen and paper. No Google Docs. No laptop. No ChatGPT.
And there’s a reason behind it.
This morning, I woke up with an intense, almost overwhelming desire to get better—to work harder, sharpen my skills, and serve my clients at the highest level.
It wasn’t just ambition. It was something deeper.
You ever feel that? That itch in your brain telling you you’re onto something big? That you’re only one breakthrough away?
That’s how I felt today.
And that’s how I ended up obsessing over bullet points.
A few months ago, I was on a call with a group of top-tier copywriters training under Thom Benny (@copyjistu on X).
One of them, a specialist in the health niche, casually mentioned how obsessed he was with Gary Halbert’s teachings of Bullet Points. (Halbert is one of the best advertisers to ever step on this earth)
I didn't think much of it at the time, but I recorded a mental image of that moment in my brain: "This is important. I’ll come back to this later."
And this morning, completely out of nowhere, that moment resurfaced.
I was listening to a YouTube video on copywriting during my commute. And guess what came up?
Bullet Points.
Boom. My brain instantly connected the dots.
"Bullet points? DING DING.”
So the moment I parked the car, I ran a quick Google search: "Gary Halbert on writing bullet points."
And there it was. The exact letter he wrote explaining why learning to write bullet points is one of the highest-leverage skills any great copywriter can develop.
And how one bullet point he included in an ad “caused calls to come in for months and maybe even a year later.”
I read it.
Then I read it again.
Then I printed it out.
But what really stopped me in my tracks wasn’t the bullet points lesson.
It was this confession from Halbert:
==========
'I was driven. I was obsessed with becoming the best advertising copywriter in the world. Whether or not I succeeded is beside the point. What's germane is what I did in furtherance of this noble goal: 1) I ignored my wife, 2) I ignored my children, 3) I wrote advertising during the day, 4) I studied advertising in the evening, and I dreamt about it at night.'
==========
Obsession.
That word grabbed me.
You see, skill makes you good. But obsession makes you great.
And I know you’re obsessed with your speaking business.
That’s why you’re reading this email.
That’s why you spend hours refining your message.
That’s why you rehearse your keynotes, tweak your delivery, and chase that next big gig.
But let me ask you…
Do you still wonder, "Where will my next speaking gig come from?"
Have you ever thought, "What if the demand for my keynote starts to fade?"
Are you tired of relying on referrals and word-of-mouth to get booked?
Then it’s time to fuel your current obsession… with another one: Direct Response Marketing.
Because of the real secret behind high-paid speakers?
They don’t chase opportunities. They attract them.
They build an automated revenue system that works 24/7, so they can focus on what actually matters: delivering their best work.
This is where I come in.
My obsession is direct-response marketing for speakers.
I’m obsessing over becoming the go-to expert in this space.
And while my fees today are still lower than they should be, that won’t be the case for long.
A year from now, my prices will double, triple, and 10X even!
And I implore you to take advantage of that.
