On a tight deadline? Write a high-converting sales page in under 2 hours (Part 1)

Let me share with you the system I used to ship the first draft of an offer just two hours after I took over a project.

Now, you might think that such a quick turnaround is the result of sloppy work, right?

But here’s the feedback I received:

“WOW! Impressive Mo! This was your first shot at it? I must say, I would join right away. It looks professional, asks the right questions, pushes people to reflect on their own situation, addresses some common pain and gives a solution. Thanks for taking the time to do that.”

Pretty encouraging, wouldn’t you say?

Here’s the truth: I wasn’t just “winging it” to complete the project. I used a system that allowed me to finish 80% of a sales page in under two hours and ship the first draft on the same day.

This system relies on two main pillars.

Today, I’ll share the first pillar. But before I do…

Here’s some context:

The project was for an in-person public speaking club that meets weekly in Montreal and the goal is to increase the number of guests that attend these in-person meetings.

To do that, I decided to create a newsletter sign-up page that captures the email addresses of people interested in improving their public speaking skills.

Normally, I’d start with researching the market, product, and customers.

But for this project, I skipped that step.

Why?

Because I’ve been a speaker for the past 2,675 days. I know the industry, the pain points, and the dreams of people wanting to improve their public speaking skills.

And that’s the first pillar of this system: A solid knowledge of the industry you’re selling to.

If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’re an expert in your field.

You know your customers’ pain points and aspirations. You understand the challenges in your industry and the solutions they’re looking for.

If that’s the case, then leverage that knowledge.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you should skip research entirely. Research is essential. But as an expert, you already have an intimate understanding of your audience and their needs.

If you don’t have that level of knowledge yet, you’ll need to spend some time researching before moving forward.

Once you’re confident in your research, you’ll be ready for the second pillar of this system.

This second pillar is the key to turning your knowledge into a compelling sales page that can be written and tested in under two hours, so stay tuned for tomorrow’s email to learn more about it.

In the meantime, if you’re struggling with research, Paul French created one of the best resources I found on research.
