The Simple Way to Turn Your Keynote Into Passive Income

It’s easier than you think, and you already have everything you need!

Last weekend I finished translating one of my live workshops into an online course.

People have paid $1,000 to see it in person, and it’s never failed to receive great feedback! So turning it into an online course was a no-brainer.

But finishing it took me about three longgg months!

It was NOT hard to create. It’s just that I’ve been juggling a 9-to-5 and running three side businesses at the same time: speaking, copywriting, and The Persuasive Speaker newsletter.

Plus, I need some time for myself too, right?

The actual work? It took just four days and three to four hours of focused work each day.

That’s 12 hours in total.

Here’s how I did it:

I took the content I delivered in my two-hour workshop and outlined it into clear, digestible modules.

Each module was broken down into smaller lessons.

And since I was creating a written course only, I added vivid imagery, actionable steps, and plenty of pictures to replace the live audience interactions and exercises.

Looking back though, I could have saved even more time by taking the live workshop recording and packaging it as an exclusive video workshop product.

Alas… in the only recording I have, I deliver half the workshop in Arabic and the other half in English. So I’ll save that idea for next time.

So if you’re thinking about turning your keynote or workshop into a course, here is my advice:

  1. Use What You Already Have

If you have a recorded talk, that is your golden ticket. Simply package it as an online product and sell it.

If not, then break it into smaller chunks, like five to ten-minute lessons, and record it. You do not need a fancy studio. A quiet room, a good mic, some slides, and a Loom subscription are more than enough.

  2. Write It Out If Needed

If you are creating a written course, follow my approach. Outline your talk, write freely without overthinking, and include visuals, exercises, and resources to keep it engaging. Edit it later.

  3. Do Not Undervalue Your Content

Your live talk is already validated. If people have paid $1,000 to see it in person, a $99 course is an easy sell. Pricing it right signals value and attracts serious buyers.

Don’t sleep on your existing assets! Turning your keynote into a course is one of the easiest ways to scale your business.
