What a 67’ Hit Song Shot in Montreal Teaches About Re-selling Your Offers
And what a few missed details in your offer can be turned into an asset
A colleague of mine was listening to "Ain’t No Mountain High Enough" today!
You know… the iconic duet by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell?
Suddenly, he froze.
“Oh god! I can't believe this. Mo, come take a look at this!” he asked, as his jaw dropped.
“What? What am I looking at? What are you talking about?” I stared at him, confused.
“Look at the video! The poles, the buildings. I’ve watched this clip hundreds of times, but this is the first time I realized it was filmed right here. In Montreal!”
“haha I see it now you're right” as I lean in closer to look at the video playing.
Now, my colleague is 55 and a huge music nerd. He’s probably watched this video more times than I’ve had tea. (And I drink at tea at least twice a day!)
Yet somehow, he missed this tiny but meaningful detail all these years.
And when he finally noticed it, his whole face lit up. And tell you what? I bet he rushed to tell his wife when he got home.
So, what does this story teach us about selling our products or services?
It’s simple: Even the best of us can miss important details.
And sometimes, those details are the difference between someone shrugging and someone smiling. Someone considering buying our product, or someone adding his card info and clicking that buy button.
When my colleague discovered this fact about the video, it changed the way he saw the song. He connected with it on a deeper level.
This applies to selling too.
Sometimes, it’s not about creating something brand new.
But it’s about retargeting an offer that worked before, because the right person might finally notice something they missed.
Maybe it’s a course, a keynote, a workshop, or a coaching program you’ve sold successfully in the past.
There are people who saw it and didn’t buy. Maybe they added it to their cart but hesitated.
Send it to them again.
This time, they might catch a detail they overlooked and it might be the thing that gets them to buy.
Speaking of retargeting, here’s an offer I want to reopen:
I’ll pay YOU $500 to help scale your business.
Here’s the deal:
I’ll write 5 custom emails, each worth $100 in value.
Your investment? Just $1.
If you’re not satisfied, I’ll refund your $1, no questions asked.
This offer is limited to 2 people only.
Here’s what you need:
An email list you actively engage (at least once a week) and a strong, tested offer to sell.
If that’s you, reply to this email, and I’ll send you the application link.
Let’s make your audience notice something new this time, and turn it into profit.
