You DO NOT sell on stage if the event planner says no
But here’s how to crush it when they give you the green light!
I used to think “selling on stage” was a scam.
The idea of getting paid $10,000, $20,000, or even $100,000 to deliver a keynote AND then SELL a program sounded like double-dipping to me.
“That’s just wrong” I’d think to myself.
But that was in my old and early days!
I didn’t know any better.
Today, I know selling on stage isn’t a scam if you follow the rules and respect the event and its audience.
First rule?
Never sell if the event planner asks you not to.
The event planners know more about the audience than most of the speakers, so always seek their opinions first.
But if the audience is open to being sold to (and the event planner gives you the green light) the question then becomes this:
How do you sell without turning them off?
First, make sure to use the right keynote framework.
Russell Brunson’s “Perfect Webinar” which I shared with you yesterday is an excellent starting point.
Second, you have to provide value, but not all the value.
Instead, share two or three powerful secrets that prove the value of your offer, but leave the audience wanting more.
This is where Ben Settle’s idea of “Infotainment” shines.
Blend new information with entertainment. This keeps the audience engaged while you give them actionable insights that are “just enough” to spark curiosity for what else you have to offer. Tease what’s left to discover. Share testimonials or case studies to prove the value of your offer.
Finally, give them a clear call to action:
Done right, your audience walks away with real value and a desire to dive deeper with you!
